Dennis Davin Dennis Remission Order

Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, considering that the collection of certain amounts is unjust, on the recommendation of the Minister of National Revenue, pursuant to subsection 23(2)^{footnote a} of the Financial Administration Act^{footnote b}, remits the following amounts paid or payable under Part I of the Income Tax Act^{footnote c} by Dennis Davin Dennis in respect of the 1997 taxation year:

• (a) late filing penalty in the amount of $844.24; and
• (b) all relevant interest in respect of that taxation year having accrued during the period beginning on May 1, 1998 and ending on December 31, 2005 and also since January 22, 2020.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Order remits late-filing penalties in the amount of $844.24 and all relevant interest on tax and penalties, paid or payable by Dennis Davin Dennis for the 1997 taxation year.

The amount remitted represents additional penalties and interest incurred as a result of circumstances that were not within Mr. Dennis’s control. The enforcement of the penalty and the collection of the interest are unjust.
